Soild Finish For The Biocycle V6 Sprint Team!
9/12/2008 9:57:52 PM - Benwiese.com PR

The Biocycle Waste Water Treatments V6 sprint team made there way up to the Renmark Speedway for the 4th Round of the V6 Sprint Challenge series. The weather was not looking promising as it rained a lot of the trip up the Riverland. The Team were looking forward to re-building the confidence that had been lost over the past couple of rounds. The crew worked hard though out the week on getting the car repaired from the mishap in the last round at Mt. Gambier. Kate really needed to get some confidence back under the belts. The team felt it would be best to push to get the car ready for this round.
The clouds cleared and the Biocycle SA#9 was ready to rumble Renmark. The first heat saw Kate start from position 3. She got a good start and slotted in behind Kelvin Burns. The car handled really well and the track was a very racy surface. The SA#9 held a good line and glided to a 4th position finish.
The second heat saw Kate starting out of position 7. Kate was really focused in the first heat and was ready to get some more very valuable points in the 2nd heat. The Biocycle machine got a great start in the first start getting up to 3rd in the first corner until the yellow lights were brought on for a spun Richard Carvell. The second start was not as favourable as the first; the SA#9 got swamped in the first corner and was pushed back to position 6th. The car was handling really well and Kate had really stepped on the gas and was moving forward, a couple of cars early on made mistakes running high, Kate took full advantage of these opportuties and seized them for the position, the race was about half way and the Biocycle Green machine was really going forward running in 4th position behind Ben Hall. Every lap the SA#9 machine reeled the 71 of Ben Hall in closer, the white flag was shown, it came down to the last corner where Kate poked her nose in and got the passed finishing in 3rd! It was a great drive and the team was very happy.
The team tuned the set up ready for a slick track for the 6 lap dash. Kate would be out of position 5 in the A Dash. The first corner was not so good for the Biocycle machine giving up an easy place to Lee Payne and Graham Knuckey. There was a lot of ground to be made to get some positions back. Towards the end of the Dash Kate got back passed Graham Knuckey for 5th Position. The team were still confident that they would get a good finishing spot in the feature.
The Feature was jammed pack with a full field of 15 V6 Sprints lining up. The Biocycle Green Machine started out of 9th position behind Lee Payne. The first corner saw a lot of the front runners been taken out in a 4 car pile up. Nick Hall, Sam Putland, Mark Brown and Brendan Quinn were all first corner casualty and were forced to retire to the infield for the remainder of the 20 laps. Nearly the whole out side row were taken out. The Next restart was clean into the first corner and the race was well underway, the Biocycle machine looked good and passed a few slower cars to get into 4th position. The car was making great ground on the 3rd place before they hit lap traffic. Kate struggle on the first lap car and gave up the 4th position to Graham Knuckey. The next lap car held her up as well and the race drew to an end before she was able to get back up into the forth position. In the end Kate finished up in 5th position but claimed the night’s 4th position points. All in all the Biocycle team were happy with the nights positions and Kate gained the confidence that she needed in the lead up to the next meeting which will be the state title on the 10th of January. Kate and the team are now looking forward to a well deserved break over the Christmas period. The Team would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. We hope to see you all at the Big State Title meeting at The Murray Bridge Speedway on the 10th of January.
