"strong Start To The 09/10 Season For The Biocycle Sa9 Team"
19/10/2009 10:38:09 PM - Kate Wiese Media

On Saturday the 17th of October the Biocycle Waste Water Treatment SA9 Lighting Sprint team made their way to Renmark Speedway, for the first round of the ‘Lightning Sprints SA Smithfield Crash Repairs Challenge Series.’ It was a cool day and the team was ready for action for the first meeting of the year.
The night would comprise of 2 heats 12 Laps each, with a 4 lap dash for the top 4 point scorers from the heats and then a 20 lap feature race to finish the night off. After some hot laps at the start of the night both the team and Kate felt comfortable with the set up and the track. The first heat saw Kate start out of position 9. The cars were aloud some hot laps before the start of the race to buzz of the wet surface of the top.
The Green Machine got off to a fairly slow start, before really getting into the race. Kate gained only one position to finish 8th for the first heat picking up 90 points towards the series. The Second heat would see Kate start out of Position 1, after a disappointing first heat Kate was focused to finish this heat in a good position. The Green Machine got off to a great start and led the race from start to finish. Their was a fair bit of pressure coming from second position but Kate was able to hold them out to the chequer flag to gain a very handy 200 points going in to the 4 lap dash on 3rd highest points for the night.
The 4 lap dash was a reverse grid of the top 4 points for the night. Kate was on third highest points for the night so she would start out of position 2. It was a very quick race, but very close between Kate and Nick Hall for first place. The Biocycle SA 9 made one mistake coming out of turn 4 which let Nick Hall take first place. This would mean a front row start for Kate for the 20 lap feature race.
The feature would be contested over 20 laps. Kate had a little trouble finding a groove in the feature and struggled to hold positions at the start of the race. After Kate settled in to position 7 she found some pace and made up only one more position, to finish 6th in the feature. It was a fast race going the whole 20 laps without one stoppage.
“I was quite disappointed with the way I drove in the feature, I could have done a lot better. But we finished 3rd for the night and are running 3rd in the series, so it was a good result for the team.” Kate Said after the feature.
The second round of the ‘Lighting Sprints SA Smithfield Crash Repairs Challenge Series,’ will be held at Murray Bridge speedway on the 12th of December.
The next meeting for the Biocycle Waste Water Treatment SA9 Lighting Sprint team will be this coming weekend on the 24th of October at Murray Bridge Speedway. The Team hopes to see you there.
