13/01/2010 10:42:06 PM - Kate Wiese Media
On Saturday the 2nd of January the Biocycle Waste Water Treatment SA9 Lighting Sprint team made their way to Renmark Speedway, for the State Title. Kate and the team were hoping for a good meeting. The state title would be held over 3 heat races each and a 25 lap A-main feature. In the first heat Kate started out of Position 2. She got off to a slow start and went back to position 4. There was a red light on the first lap, which aloud Kate to re-focus. The second start was a lot better. Kate got into position 3. The laps fell and the track got slicker. There was a yellow brought on for the 1st place car, after they spun coming out of turn 4. The Green Machine was able to dodge the spinning cars and moved up to positions 2. 2nd Positions was where Kate finished. In the second heat Kate started out of Position 9. Kate got tangled with Ben Hall on the first corner but was able to re start with no damage. Kate did not advance very far in this heat and finished about mid field. In the third and final heat the SA9 started out of position 10, the track was very racy. Kate made up a couple of positions and had another mid pack finish. From the heats Kate was on 5th points for the night going into the 25 lap feature. Kate was starting behind Sam Putland on the inside row. The Green Machine got off to slow start and slotted in behind SA 18. This is where Kate remained for the 25 laps. The SA5 of Ben Hall put pressure on her from behind but Kate was able to hold him off till the chequer flag. The feature went 25 laps green to chequer. The SA 9 finished in a strong 5th position. Kate said after the feature “It was a hard meeting, but I am pleased the car is straight and that I finished in 5th and didn’t go backwards,” “Thank you to Kristen, Matt, Kezza and Brady that came and help me tonight, all the support really helps.” The top 5 positions for the SA Lighting Sprint Title were 1st Brendan Quinn, 2nd Sam Putland, 3rd Nick Hall, 4th Daryl Knuckey and 5th Kate Wiese. Well done to all the place getters. The Biocycle team would like to thank the great help from Kristen, Matt, Kerrianne and Brady on the night. The Renmark pits looked great with lots of green shirts and jackets around!!
